After launching the feature on its latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S24 Series, Galaxy AI is now available for older devices! Specifically, Samsung rolled out the One UI 6.1 update to its 2023 devices. This update further brings the innovation of mobile AI to more and more people. You can find this update on the following devices: Galaxy S23 Series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Standout Features of Galaxy AI
With One UI 6.1, users on Samsung’s 2023 devices also get to experience the company’s mobile AI features in three different aspects: Communiction, Creativity, and Productivity.
Communication
You can overcome language barriers thanks to AI-enabled features like:
- Chat Assist – this feature allows for seamless text translation in 13 languages for both sending and receiving messages
- Call Assist – provides real-time voice and text translations when taking calls in the Phone app via Live Translate
- Interpreter – allows for the device to do the translating for you, even when watching your favorite foreign shows without subtitles
Creativity
With Galaxy AI, more and more people are able to be more creative without needing to download multiple apps. It can make the photo editing process easier with the Edit Suggestion feature that allows for blurring the background, photo remastering, erasing unwanted shadows and reflections, and more.
There’s even a more capable AI-enabled editing feature called Generative Edit. With this feature, you can do high-definition backgrounds, resize, reposition, realign objects or remove unwanted objects in the frame. You can even get slow-mo videos from any video you record using Instant Slow-mo. This feature adds additional frames via AI in order to get those smooth slow-motion videos.
Productivity
There are also features in Galaxy AI that help you be more productive with your smartphone use! These include:
- Transcript Assist – This feature can provide text transcriptions from the recordings in your recorder app.
- Note Assist – A feature that helps summarize personal notes in the Notes app
- Browsing Assist – This feature provides summaries of web articles in your web browser
- Circle to Search with Google – A feature that allows you to easily access information by circling anything that’s on your screen and search it on Google.
