Xiaomi’s success can be largely attributed to its midrange REDMI Note Series of smartphones. With over 460 million global shipments, these phones brought the Xiaomi brand to even more people. This year, Xiaomi made durability the main selling point of the REDMI Note 15 Series. Unfortunately, this focus also brings with it a price increase. Despite all these changes, is the top-of-the-line phone in this series worth its P27,999 price tag? Find out in my review.
Disclaimer: I received the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G in Mocha Brown on January 15, 2026. I’ve been using this phone as my main Android phone for a month and have used it for months as a secondary phone.
Inside the Box

Design and Build

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G carries over the design language of its predecessor, albeit in this nice Mocha Brown color. (The I like that the camera module is actually slightly thinner than the one in the 14 Pro+. While the back itself is slightly curved, I love that I can grip on the sides of this phone.

Besides all that, this phone’s main highlight is its more durable build. Dubbed REDMI Titan Durability, it features improvements to the phone’s structure to enable up to 2.5 m of drop resistance and FOUR IP ratings (that’s IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K) for superior dust and water resistance.
From bringing a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 display glass to an aluminum-alloy reinforced frame and thickened motherboard, it’s reassuring to know that the phone can withstand everyday life. It also helps that Xiaomi is bringing a slew of warranties along for even more reassurance: a 4-year battery warranty, a 2-year liquid damage warranty, a 2-year front & back cover protection. All of that is on top of a general 2-year warranty.
While there’s a need to read the fine print for all those warranties, I feel that Xiaomi’s fairly confident in how durable the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G is.
Display and Speakers

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G features a 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1280 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports up to 3200 nits of peak brightness and 1800 nits in HBM or high brightness mode. This display is plenty bright for most scenarios, with the only struggle is when I’m under direct sunlight. There wasn’t anything wrong with the display on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, so it’s no surprise this phone’s just as good.

The stereo speakers on this phone are good for casual video watching and playing games, which is expected in midrange phones. Gone are the days when brands could get away with just a single speaker.
Performance and Software
Powering the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. In the Philippines, there are two available storage variants: 256GB or 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Out of the box, this phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. As of this writing, there is an update available to Xiaomi HyperOS 3. (More on that later.)

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is plenty capable for most tasks. You can even play graphics-intensive games like Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves as long as you manage those settings. Casual games are a breeze on this phone.
Here are some AnTuTu benchmark scores if you’re into that sort of thing:

Let’s Talk About HyperOS
Most of my experience with this phone was when it ran HyperOS 2. I didn’t believe it at first, but there would be times when the phone would lag or feel slow even if I just closed all the apps. Even with extended use and multiple security updates, I thought Xiaomi still fumbled with its Android skin in the midrange. This honestly goes all the way back to when Xiaomi still had MIUI and I hoped that HyperOS would change things.
Little did I know that I would have to wait until Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.

While I find the Xiaomi HyperIsland kind of cheeky thanks to what inspired that feature, HyperOS 3 makes the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G feel so much better from a user experience perspective. There is significantly reduced lag and apps just work faster in my experience. I honestly would have leaned towards the negative if it wasn’t for this update.
Battery Experience

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G has a 6500 mAh battery with support for 100W Xiaomi HyperCharge fast charging. While many brands ditched the charger inside the box, Xiaomi did a nice thing and include the 100W charger in the box.
While the PCMark Work 3.0 battery life test only rated this phone for almost 16 hours with how I do my battery test, I easily get through a full day of mixed use. For reference, these are the conditions for the battery test I do, screen is set to around 200 nits of brightness, Wi-Fi is on, and sound off. My mixed use consists of 1 to 2 hours of social media, at least 30 minutes of watching videos, and at least 15 minutes of casual gaming (Pokémon TCG Pocket and the like).

One aspect of testing battery life on this phone I don’t mention often is my constant use of the Android phone I review as a mobile hotspot. I had another full day using this phone where I basically had around 4 hours of mobile hotspot use. With the included 100W power adapter, it takes less than an hour to charge this phone’s 6500 mAh battery.
Cameras

If you were looking for a big camera upgrade, then the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G would disappoint you. Xiaomi did improve on the 200MP main camera this year since it uses the same ISOCELL HPE sensor as the telephoto camera on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. This phone also rocks an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera for more versatility in photos and selfies.
I’ll share my thoughts on the cameras while showing the photos I took using the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G.

I fortunately got to bring the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G with me on my Japan trip back in February. For the most part, I’m happy with the photos I took using its 200MP main camera. There is plenty of detail that even when using 2x or 4x zoom. There are times when the color can be off but you can definitely use the photos for sharing or use Pro mode for more control.

The 8MP ultrawide camera lacks the detail of the main camera. Despite that, it does a good job when you give it enough light. This is good for taking photos with more of the scenery or with more people.

Front Camera
The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G has a 32MP front camera that let’s you have more detail in photos. However, you only get 1080p video recording here. The photos coming out of this camera are good enough for those selfies and even group selfies! It’s effective even in slightly low light, so night shots won’t come out too dark.

Should You Buy the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G?

As much as I was initially skeptical due to the price increase, I think Xiaomi did a good job with the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G. I would have been more negative of the phone overall if it wasn’t for the HyperOS 3 update I got later. The highlights of the phone for me are the nice vegan leather back, good battery life, flagship-level display, and its 200MP main camera. I am comfortable recommending it for those who are into mobile photography but with enough power to back that up.
Pros
- Vegan leather makes the Mocha Brown color feel more premium
- Flagship-level durability with its up to IP69K dust and water resistance rating
- Flagship-level 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display
- Good midrange performance with its Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and 12GB RAM
- Good battery life and 100W fast charging
- Good 200MP main camera and 32MP front camera
Cons
- Stereo speakers are okay
- Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 feels better, but still feels sluggish compared to other Android skins
- Still uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage for a 2026 phone in the P25,000 to P30,000 range
- Subpar 8MP ultrawide camera
- Front camera is stuck at 1080p video recording
You can purchase the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G in Xiaomi Concept stores and authorized retailers nationwide. It is also available online via Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
