It’s nice that realme complements its smartphones with various AIoT devices that are just as affordable and accessible to many Filipinos. One such product is the realme Pad. With hybrid setups becoming more common at work and school, having a tablet can be really useful, especially on the go. With that in mind, I get a chance to check out realme’s latest tablet and see if I can integrate it into my work and play! Here’s my realme Pad 2 unboxing and first impressions.
Disclaimer: realme Philippines sent me the realme Pad 2 in Inspiration Green with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It arrived on October 19, 2023, and I’ve been using it for 3 days now.
Unboxing Experience
A small nitpick before I give you a peek at what’s inside is about the packaging itself. While I get that it’s cheaper to make one packaging, it would be nice to see what color you get right away.
Now, on to what you get inside the box once you buy the realme Pad 2!
We get a pretty typical unboxing experience with this tablet. It’s a good thing that tablets did not inherit the tendency of not including chargers in the box though. If you’re wondering why there’s a SIM ejector tool, that’s because this tablet has LTE support! That’s really convenient, especially if you don’t have easy access to Wi-Fi.
You can find that SIM card slot here, as well as a dedicated microSD card slot! This is great for when you need to have a lot of files stored offline. (Cloud storage isn’t available when you don’t have cellular coverage! Hehe.)
Besides all that, the realme Pad 2 unboxing experience isn’t gonna blow you away. It just has what you need to get started.
Really Immersive Display and Speakers!
The first two things you’ll really appreciate about the realme Pad 2 are its display and quad speakers. It has an 11.5-inch 2K Display with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The quality of this display is good so far, though I haven’t tried watching videos with the Pad 2 outdoors. (We’ll see how that works out in my full review.) I really did enjoy watching my favorite shows on Netflix and Disney+, as well as YouTube videos on this tablet.
While I have some questions about its display, I cannot argue too hard about the sound coming out of its Quad Speakers. It is Hi-Res Audio Certified and has Dolby Atmos support, so you can expect good quality out of it. There just isn’t much clarity in terms of if there are Android apps that can take advantage of these good speakers. I’ll update you guys on this in the full review.
Feel The Glow
If there’s one thing that realme is really good at, it’s the design of its devices. The design realme Pad 2 is no different thanks to its Glowing Splice Design. It’s a “splice” because there’s a two-tone design going on here. The “top” part that has the camera module has a rough texture while the rest of the back looks smoother. You don’t have to worry about fingerprints on the back though since all of it has a matte finish. This tablet comes in two colors: Inspiration Green and Imagination Grey.
On top of that, I didn’t really worry too much about the performance or battery life so far. The realme Pad 2 uses a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and has either 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. Powering the tablet is a big 8360 mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC charging. For times when you need to do video chats or virtual meetings, you get a 5MP front camera. There’s also an 8MP rear camera for scanning documents and if you need to take a quick photo for some reason.
This tablet runs realme UI 4.0 for Pad based on Android 13. One thing to note is that I did have to download a software update to get the proper version running. The user interface still feels as snappy as realme UI 4.0 on phones. I’m looking forward to see what extra features it has specifically for the tablet form factor.
I’ve only had it for a few days, so that’s all I have for you in my realme Pad 2 unboxing and first impressions. What would you want me to test more in the full review? Sound off in the comments!
