It’s that time of the year again! While I’m here writing these articles for you guys, a lot of the tech media are in Las Vegas for the annual Consumer Electronics Show or CES! I’ll be covering this to the best of my ability since I’m doing this blog solo. This will be a running list of CES 2019 laptops and hybrids that struck me since I could not for the life of me cover them all. Enjoy the chaos of CES!
CES 2019 Laptops and Hybrids
ASUS ZenBook S13 UX392
ASUS went ahead and launched a lot of laptops and hybrids before CES even started! The first one that struck me is the new ZenBook S13 UX392. I really love how they reduced the bezels to just 4mm ON ALL SIDES! It really feels so immersive to just stare at that pretty screen!
In order for them to achieve that, they had to do a reverse notch! There’s a slight blip on top of the screen that houses the webcam. In all honestly, I think Apple should steal this idea and make it slightly better since this already looks great.
Most Windows laptops these days have a varied assortment of ports on both sides. The ASUS ZenBook S13 UX392 has ports that you need for a modern Windows laptop. No word on pricing and availability for this just yet. (This will be a common theme with most things launched in CES.) You can find the specs in the ASUS website.

ASUS ROG Mothership
When I saw this one, I couldn’t believe it right away! I had to check other sources and yes, THIS IS LEGIT. Republic of Games (ROG), the gaming brand of ASUS, just put out this cool new hybrid (can’t call it a pure laptop) called the ROG Mothership! It doesn’t open like a laptop, it has an elevated keyboard that you can use when attached to the screen or wireless (with the 2.4 GHz frequency).
It’s amazing how many things they managed to fit behind the screen of the ROG Mothership! The elevated keyboard part was done on purpose in order to have better ventilation. It needs that to power the latest Intel Core i9 processor and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU inside! It also has 4 speakers on the front! No pricing or availability yet, but I’m dead sure this laptop will be INSANELY EXPENSIVE!
ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701
If you don’t want anything too crazy with a gaming laptop, then go with the ROG Zephyrus S GX701. Despite the weird name, it boasts one great feature: fitting a 17-inch display into the body of a 15-inch laptop! This laptop has an Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia RTX 2080 with MaxQ or RTX 2070/2060 GPU inside! All that power in a slim package with a keyboard that has per-key backlighting. No word on when this comes out either. More info on the latest ROG laptops are found in the ASUS ROG website.

Huawei MateBook 13
Just as I was about to publish this post, another laptop popped up on my radar and this time it’s from Huawei! They just unleashed the Huawei MateBook 13 that’s poised to take on the recently released 2018 MacBook Air. It has an 8th-gen Intel Core i5 U-series processor to start and can go up to an 8th-gen Intel Core i7 U-series processor. It has 8GB RAM, up to 512GB SSD, a built-in fingerprint reader, USB-C, up to 10 hours battery life and an option to get discrete graphics (Nvidia GeForce MX 150). Unlike the other laptops in this list, this one has pricing and availability in the US. It starts at $999 for the base model (8GB RAM, 256GB, Core i5, Mystic Silver color). You can spend more at $1299 for the model with Core i7, 512GB, GeForce MX 150 GPU, and the Space Grey color.
