After making its debut in China back in January, OnePlus finally launched its latest flagship globally during its Cloud 11 launch event! Aiming to redefine the Shape of Power, the OnePlus 11 seems like a return to form for the brand on paper. It brings shades of the old OnePlus in terms of bringing flagship specs at a more affordable price point.
The Return of the Alert Slider!
It surprised everyone when the OnePlus 10T ditched the beloved alert slider. This feature essentially became what OnePlus is known for today so it was baffling when they ditched it. Good thing that it’s back in the OnePlus 11. I even like how it blends with the overall color of the phone. This new OnePlus flagship comes in two colors: Eternal Green, and Titan Black.
The Fast and Smooth Experience Lives On
In usual OnePlus fashion, this new phone comes with the latest and greatest specs for 2023. This includes the 120Hz 2K Super Fluid AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5000 mAh battery with 100W SUPERVOOC charging (80W in North America). You get both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support on this phone. Supporting all these is the software running on this phone: OxygenOS 13 based on Android 13.
The Hasselblad Collaboration Grows!
As the flagship of the whole OnePlus lineup, it gets the fruits of the brand’s collaboration with world-renowned camera manufacturer Hasselblad. Dubbed the 3rd-Generation Hasselblad Camera for Mobile, the OnePlus 11 aims to provide the most evolved image-taking experience in OnePlus history.
This phone has triple rear cameras that consist of a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS, a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultrawide camera with a 115° field-of-view, and a 32MP Sony IMX709 portrait telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Assisting these cameras is an Accu-spectrum Light-color Identifier which enables hardware-assisted Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad. OnePlus claims that you can capture more colors from every scene with accurate and more natural color processing thanks to that.
The Magic Man Holds the Shape of Power!
As OnePlus expands its reach across the globe, the brand wants to appeal to more than just its core audience. A big part of that is bringing on a smartphone ambassador to spread the word! For OnePlus APAC (Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore), we get the Magic Man himself: Jackson Wang! It’s still unclear to me how he’ll be involved with the brand beyond just appearing in promotional material, but I’m sure it’ll be similar with how OPPO does it.
Philippine Launch on February 21!
A tidbit at the end of the Cloud 11 launch event saw some info on when we can expect the OnePlus 11 in the Philippines. According to OnePlus, we won’t be waiting much longer as the local launch is set for February 21! In the US, it retails for $699 for the 8GB+128GB variant and $799 for the 16GB+256GB variant. Here’s hoping the price won’t go beyond P40,000.
