A new level of handheld gaming awaits as ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) launches the ROG Ally X in the Philippines! The latest iteration of the ROG Ally brings upgraded storage, RAM, and battery life. The new handheld also boasts a new and improved chassis for better ergonomics, cooling, and connectivity. It also uses Armoury Crate SE 1.5 that offers a customizable game library and a more unified interface.
Next-Level Controls and Connectivity
The Ally X has a new and improved chassis that comes in a brand-new black colorway. It has slightly deeper handles and a more rounded shape for improved comfort without making the device thicker as a result. All the buttons and sticks are arranged at a more ergonomic angle. Having a slant to the triggers make them easier to press. We also get smaller macro buttons to reduce accidental presses.
Rated for a 5-million-cycle lifespan, the Ally X has new and more durable joysticks. They feature stiffer springs to get a more familiar feel for longtime controller gamers. Even the D-Pad gets an upgrade with more precise eight-direction input for fighting and retro games.
One complaint from ROG Ally users was the need for more universal I/O. Instead of the XG Mobile port, we get two USB-C ports on the ROG Ally X. One of those ports is Thunderbolt-compatible for wide support for third-party docks and external GPUs.
Better Thermals
The Ally X features new fans that that are 23% smaller but utilize 50% thinner fan blades to improve airflow. Two new tunnels in the fan housing direct air up and out toward an additional third exhaust vent on the upper edge of the ROG Ally X. This new thermal solution provides 24% more air volume to be pushed through the device. It not only cools the internal components but also the touchscreen, which measures up to 6°C cooler for more comfortable long-term usage.
