TechBytes is a weekly dose of tech gathered into one post! I put the relevant tech news, podcasts, videos, and more! I know it’s late, but here’s a collection of things that I thought were interesting during the craziness of CES 2017!
CES 2017 has come and gone and I found some stuff that captures the feel of this event. Some may seem like the coolest thing you’ve ever seen. Others would seem INSANE! I love this mix of the amazing and absurd.
Here are some stuff that made me open my eyes or shake my head:
1
Sony OLED Bravia 4K TV
OLED TVs started popping up a few years ago. LG never gave up on it last year when they showed off their 4K OLED TV with HDR (High Dynamic Range). When I read that Sony’s getting back in the high-end TV market, I was really happy! We only had Sony TVs when I was younger.
The XBR-A1E OLED Bravia TV is Sony’s answer to those LG OLED TVs that keep popping up in CES. Even though Sony has this masterpiece, LG Display (different from LG Electronics that makes TVs) is the company providing the display for this amazing TV!
One thing I really like about this TV is that the sound comes out of the TV! It uses a technology called “Acoustic Surface” which makes it possible for this TV to act as a speaker! I hope I get to see one in person and feel the sound that the TV puts out!
2
Xiaomi Mi TV 4
Well, look at this! I have another TV on this list! Xiaomi had its first appearance in CES and announced a white Mi Mix and this cool-looking Mi TV 4! The thickness of that TV should say it all! It also costs “well under $2000” for the 65-inch version with the full soundbar! The one thing that sucks about it that it’ll only be released in China. Despite that, I hope Xiaomi will launch their products in other countries.
3
Withings and L’Oreal Smart Hairbrush
There are some ideas that I just don’t know why they made it. This smart hairbrush is one of those things. I don’t even want to describe it other than this isn’t worth it. Just read about it here. I don’t wanna say more.
4
TPCast for HTC Vive
The HTC Vive is one of the most popular VR headsets out today. The problem with most of those VR headsets is a cable that sticks out and connects to the PC. With the TPCast peripheral that they showed in CES 2017, HTC made it possible to have a wireless connection to the Vive!

Smart Hairbrush is funny. Hahaha! Those TVs are amazing. I hope I could grab one soon!
Xiaomi Mi TV 4 is so thin, murag ako man makuyawan kung naa ko’y ingon ana sa balay. And that Smart Hairbrush is a big HAHA! Definitely not worth it.
