Hi guys! It’s been a while since I had a post here on the blog. Don’t worry, I have stuff coming your way soon! But for now, I have some things to share. Sorry in advance if it looks like a travel post! It’s actually more of how we should It’s all about spending an offline day in the beach!
I spent a weekend in Bantayan Island with my girlfriend and her barkada! Bantayan Island is in the northern part of Cebu. Getting to Bantayan Island only takes you around 4-5 hours from Cebu City. It takes around 3 hours riding a bus then another hour and a half riding a barge going to Bantayan Island itself.
When we got to Queen Elizabeth Beach Resort (yes, Queen Elizabeth), we immediately prepared ourselves for our island hopping! I didn’t have enough battery for me to able to use the internet during the island hopping. So I decided in my head to not use the internet or social media for a day. I could still use the camera to take pictures but that’s it.
After that day, I realized something. I thought that I really did not need social media a lot. Sure, I could make the occasional checkup at night. Besides that, I didn’t really feel the pressure of needing to post about my day. Even though I live and breathe tech, I only go to social media just to start reading about tech. I rarely read about something negative (especially the annoying topic of politics). There was no pressure on me to reply to something I really shouldn’t!
I found out that turning off notifications really helped a lot. The only times I feel compelled to reply to them are if they are messages from close friends and family. It’s really liberating that I have control over what I read and see on the internet. If you have that kind of power, make sure you use it to your advantage. At the end of the day, it’s not about staying away from the internet. It’s about how much you have control over it.
I hope you enjoyed reading this short but sweet post. I’ll be back with my regularly scheduled posts soon! Until then!
I just read your Globe LTE Pocket Wifi review. Nice review! I am considering buying pocket wifi because we are also going to Bantayan next week and worried about the internet connection there. Do they have a good, great or average network signal? Is the Island already LTE or 4G coverage? Thanks!
Thanks!
The island surprisingly has LTE coverage now! Make sure to get the NEW Huawei model of Globe LTE Mobile WiFi! It’s in Globe stores now.
