The first Galaxy Fold was a blessing and a curse for Samsung. Although the company had the advantage of being one of the first, they also ran into a huge roadblock. (Remember the issues surrounding the Fold review units?) They recovered somewhat, but they needed to prove that it would NEVER happen again. During Samsung’s Unpacked Part 2 event, we meet the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Ooooh, A Bigger Cover Screen!
Yup. Good that you noticed that! Samsung finally added a worthy display on the cover of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It’s a 6.2-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 2260×816 resolution and a 25:9 aspect ratio. This makes using the Fold 2 a lot better even when folded. There may be problems when reaching the top part of the cover screen for some people. The cover screen also houses a 10MP front camera in a hole punch configuration. That’s not all Samsung updated with this one though.
The Hinge Is The Key, And Samsung Nailed It.
We soon found out after the original Fold debacle that the hinge was the key to a good foldable. In hindsight, I’m glad Samsung went through all that pain. If it weren’t for that, we wouldn’t get that good hinge in the Galaxy Z Flip.
With the Z Fold 2, we’re getting a new Hideaway Hinge! The hinge utilizes a CAM mechanism to enable the similar flexibility you get on the Z Flip. With this one though, you can make it stand on its own from 75 to 115 degrees! This gives you A LOT OF OPTIONS in terms of how you would use the Z Fold 2! It also has a sweeper structure that helps clean the whole mechanism to prevent debris and dirt from staying in.
Now a True Flagship Powerhouse!
When the first Fold came out, it had flagship specs of the previous year and a subpar battery for the price. That’s no longer the case with the Z Fold 2! We get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor, 12GB RAM, 256 or 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4500 mAh battery. I think we can expect good battery life, but not great due to that giant Main Screen.
Speaking of that display, it’s a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with 2208×1768 resolution. The big screen now houses a 10MP front camera on the right portion instead of that giant notch in the first Fold.
Don’t Forget About Its Cameras!
Let’s also not forget about the triple rear cameras of this phone. They consist of a 12MP wide-angle camera with Super Speed Dual Pixel AF and OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field-of-view, and a 12MP telephoto camera with OIS.
I’m glad to see flagship-level cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 2, even if this was taken from the Galaxy Note 20.

Wow! The specs are amazing! I never imagined that we will have this kind of phone today. The fold is just so amazing.
I am amaze how the phone folds and could still give the best qualoty picture. I want this phone soon ?
Samsung is always user friendly. This new Fold could be a little bit tricky. But as long as you handle phone well like any other design and brand, it will last. Watch out that it wont fall frequently as much as my phone now ?
Awesome specs Samsung got there! Cool!
Wow! That model is very interesting jud!! Haven’t seen any models yet na ma fold2 haha except for the old ones ?
Foldable phones may actually be the future of premium phones. I don’t see myself getting one in the next few years but we’ll never know. It really depends on how technology will evolve.
I could remember foldable phones before around 2012 or something. Now, I think Samsung is reviving this concept which comes with superior specifications. This is a manifestation of great innovation in terms of smartphones technology. It is quite pricey for me (for now) but who knows in the future.
Technical specifications are amazing, the color variant is great, Samsung as a brand is really very competitive but very expensive. I would love to experience Samsung again someday. If even the opportunity and the budget, I would definitely get a new Samsung smartphone. I have some doubts about the folding mechanism though, but let’s see.
