Everyone has been undergoing their fitness era (I think I should get back to that) and Xiaomi has a plethora of options to support that. From fitness bands to smartwatches (and even smart weighing scales), there is something for everyone. As smartwatches became more available, people expect more features from the higher-end models. Xiaomi has done just that with its latest affordable smartwatch: the REDMI Watch 6. With its bigger always-on display and a big battery, is this watch worth its P5,499 price tag? Find out in my review.
Disclaimer: Xiaomi Philippines sent over the REDMI Watch 6 review unit in Obsidian Black. I got it on May 14, 2026, unboxed it a day later, and have been using the smartwatch for over a month.
Inside the Box

Since this is Xiaomi’s affordable smartwatch, you only get the basics inside the box: the charging cable, strap, and the user manual. I just wish there was a better charging standard for smartwatches since it can be a pain to carry a separate cable just for the watch.
Design and Build

I’m honestly a fan of the aluminum alloy middle frame of this smartwatch. This frame brings a more premium feel to the watch for how affordable it is. The buttons are clicky enough for me, and the strap is comfortable enough even in a warmer environment. This smartwatch comes in three colors: Obsidian Black, Silver Gray, and Glacier Blue. It’s unfortunate that the Glacier Blue color only shows up in the band. Both the Obsidian Black and Silvery Gray colorways are shown in the watch itself and the included band.
It’s also nice that this smartwatch has 5 ATM water resistance so you don’t have to worry when it gets hit by rain or you wear it while swimming in the pool. This smartwatch doesn’t have dust resistance though, so you have to be careful while in intense outdoor scenarios.
Display

A highlight feature of the REDMI Watch 6 is its big 2.07-inch square AMOLED display with a resolution of 432 x 514 pixels at 324 ppi. It supports up to 1500 nits in high brightness mode, which is bright enough for outdoor use. The best part? This watch has an always-on display, so it can show you the time without having to look directly at the watch. While I didn’t mind not having it before, I am pretty much spoiled by having an always-on display in a smartwatch. You can only see the time when the watch is on always-on display mode, but it’s not a big deal at this price.

Setup and Software
If there’s one thing I don’t worry about, it’s how to set up a smartwatch. That is no different with the REDMI Watch 6, and there’s even a Mi Fitness companion app available on both iOS and Android. Besides the obvious limitations on iOS (limited notification support, app not as stable), you can get the features you expect from a smartwatch or fitness companion app.

Xiaomi’s HyperOS software is running on the REDMI Watch 6. The overall user experience is good, although I would highly recommend to use this smartwatch with a Xiaomi smartphone. From taking calls to receiving notifications, I didn’t really notice an instance where the smartwatch would be laggy. This shows just how far we’ve come in terms of smartwatch software.

Health and Fitness Features
In terms of health and fitness features, I think that the REDMI Watch 6 has a lot to offer. This smartwatch has around 150+ sports modes that also track your energy consumption and heart rate. It also includes a GNSS chip that allows for better tracking of outdoor runs and dual L1 antenna positioning to determine which antenna has better signal for more accurate tracking.

The REDMI Watch 6 also has a slew of health features including all-day sleep monitoring, all-day heart rate monitoring, breathing exercises, and even all-day blood oxygen monitoring. That last one used to be a rarity in smartwatches, so seeing it here is nice.
Battery Life

Xiaomi claims up to 24 days of battery life in light use of this smartwatch. Even with heavy usage, the REDMI Watch 6 is claimed to have up to 7 days of battery life. In my experience, this was easily the best feature of this smartwatch. That 550 mAh battery really lasts for more than a week in my use, even with always-on display enabled! The only time it would eat up a lot of battery is during my walks, and even then I only charged the watch a total of 3 times when reviewing this watch.
If you’re really in a pinch, you can enable Ultra battery saver that disables a lot of the advanced sensors for even longer battery life.
Should You Buy the REDMI Watch 6?

At P5,499, I can confidently recommend the REDMI Watch 6 for first-time smartwatch owners. It has everything you need in a smartwatch, especially with its slew of health and fitness features and big battery. Having that always-on display is a nice touch, and its build quality is really good for the price.
If you’re looking for a full-featured smartwatch that does the essentials well without breaking the back, this smartwatch is one you should definitely consider.
