What Powers You? is a new post series featuring people from different walks of life. I will first be featuring fellow bloggers who are part of the Cebu Blogging Community and hopefully I would be able to feature other prominent bloggers and maybe friends of mine because they’re just great people! I hope you enjoy this new series as much as I am when writing them.
I have to admit, I have ZERO or little sense of fashion. I actually ask for other people’s opinion when it comes to things like that. It’s a good thing there are people out there like Katherine Cutar, blogger at Nested Thoughts (www.nestedthoughts.com). Since I wanted to know what Nested Thoughts actually is, I asked her some questions regarding her blog and her tech preferences. Read her thoughts and answers after the break.
WHAT’S YOUR BLOG ALL ABOUT?
Established on 2012, my blog has undergone name changing twice until I settled on the right name. A moment of divine intervention went and it just suddenly came to me. “Nested Thoughts”. No, I did not base it on Kryz Uy’s “Thirsty Thought” (everybody’s thinking I did when I still didn’t even know about Kryz 3 years ago). In IT, “nested” means a structure with several levels. “Nested Thoughts” basically means a structure or blocks of thoughts. Nested Thoughts is simply a quirky and upbeat manifestation of what and who I am all about, and what I decide to fling to the world or at least to those who care enough to frequently visit. Haha! In my blog, you may find yourself coming across my vigorous passion to all sorts of things which include my lifestyle and fashion, food, travel, tutorials, aesthetics/general design, and just about any life experience/happenings that I deem worthy enough to be shared.
HOW DOES YOUR BLOG REPRESENT YOU?
My blog represents me in a way that it provides a space for my thoughts in a written manner. Every blogger’s blog is an outlet to their thoughts and everything that we deem worthy of sharing. As a style & fashion blogger, my blog represents me and the clothes that I wear, letting my fashion enthusiast readers to know where to buy and how to style them.
WHERE DO YOU USUALLY GET YOUR IDEAS FOR YOUR BLOG?
Basically, I get my ideas from the clothes I buy since I mostly blog about the styles I wear in my OOTDs. When I tend to experiment looks, I always make sure that my readers would know it so as to teach them how I do it as well. My ideas would also come from my blogger inspirations like Camie and Mija and also to social media sites like Pinterest or Lookbook.
WHAT GADGETS POWER YOU IN BLOGGING AND IN EVERYDAY LIFE?
Laptop, Nikon DSLR, iPhone 6, Pocket wifi
HOW HAS TECHNOLOGY CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
As anybody would probably say, technology has changed our lives for the better. It made my life, especially my blogging, easier and faster. Imagine life without laptops. A blogger without a laptop (or any device for him/her to write her blog posts) is a big hassle not just to the blogger but also to his/her readers. My DSLR camera is one of the most useful tools in my blog. As a fashion blogger, a good camera is needed to produce good and legit photos.
FAVORITE YOUTUBERS?
Anna Akana, Ryan Higa of NigaHiga, Lilly Singh of IISuperwomanII, and Jenn McAllister from JennxPenn
#TEAMIPHONE OR #TEAMANDROID? WHY ARE YOU ON SAID TEAM?
Both. I have been an Android user for years and the experience was okay and it was easy to navigate and manage my files. The only problem was that most of the Android smartphones I used were slow and had really low memory which contributed more hassle when using them. But still, I liked Android because it’s open source and based on what I just said, it’s easy to navigate and manage my files. Meanwhile, I just became an iPhone user for about a year now and so far, I like it. I love how sleek it looks and feels when you touch and swipe the screen. The best part that I like about iPhone is its camera. I know everybody would agree if I say that this phone really takes quality photos. Phone camera is really essential to me because of this number one reason: I am an instagrammer as well. Ha! I really see to it that the pictures I post on my Instagram feed should look as crisp as possible. Haha. I’m on both sides, technically, but I’m not an avid fan of either of the two. Each of them has its ups and downs but that’s normal.
Thank you so much to Katherine Cutar for being a good sport in answering the questions and providing the images in the post. When you get confused and you’re looking for inspiration, you can check out her blog and amp up your fashion game! Please please check out her blog and follow her on social media! Tell her that Utterly Random Techie sent you! 😀
