Xiaomi had a challenging 2019. This was because of fierce competition in places like India and Southeast Asia. Since 2020 brings new tech like 5G into the mix, Xiaomi plans to race ahead with the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro!

What’s New With the Mi 10 Series?

These new Xiaomi smartphones give us the BIGGEST LEAP in terms of their cameras. By default, both models get that shiny new 108MP main rear camera sensor. It’s probably the same sensor Samsung uses for its high-end Galaxy S20 Ultra. On top of that, both phones get three more cameras in the back!

Here are their camera specs:

  • Front camera: 20MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture
  • Quad rear cameras
    • On the Pro model: 108MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 20MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 10x hybrid optical zoom, 2MP portrait sensor with 2x optical zoom
    • On the standard model: 108MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 13MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture, 2MP macro sensor, 2MP depth sensor

The cameras on the Pro model amazed DxOMark to the point that it got the highest camera score of 124!

Yet Another Powerhouse from Xiaomi!

These phones basically have top-tier specs: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB RAM, and up to 512GB internal storage (on the Pro model). They also support 5G technology which enables faster internet speeds. All this for a starting price of RMB 3999 (~$572, ~P28,935) for the Mi 10 and RMB 4999 (~$715, ~P36,170) for the 10 Pro.

Both phones will be available in Mainland China starting on February 24, 2020! Global availability will most likely be mentioned during the Mi 10 global launch. Xiaomi postponed the launch after GSMA canceled MWC 2020 due to coronavirus concerns.

This is probably the strongest flagship lineup Xiaomi launched. Here’s hoping the pricing will be more competitive when it reaches the Philippines! I’m also lost on if Xiaomi will just disable the 5G mode on countries that simply have little to no infrastructure to handle it. We’ll see…

What do you think about Xiaomi’s latest flagships? Are they compelling enough for you over other flagships out there? Sound off in the comments!
