Popular writing and reading platform Medium opened up its Partner Program on August 6 to writers in over 75 new countries, including the Philippines! If this isn’t familiar to you, the Medium Partner Program allows writers to earn money for the stories they publish! The amount a writer can earn is based on engagement and activity from Medium members. Including every Stripe-supported country, writers in over 115 countries can earn when members read, listen, and engage with their stories.
“At Medium, we believe there are great stories everywhere. We are trying to build a better internet because we want to be a home for perspectives from as diverse a set of countries, demographics, cultures, and lived experiences as we can. In expanding our Partner Program, we hope these new voices will help deepen our collective understanding of the world through their writing.”
Tony Stubblebine, Medium CEO
What Medium Has to Offer
As a platform with no ads, Medium has the support of over one million members. Becoming a member gives you full access to all the great content on Medium! You also contribute to funding great writers as a part of a community that cares about high-quality storytelling.
Other Changes to the Medium Partner Program
Besides the expansion, here are the other changes to the Medium Partner Program:
Medium will implement a new $10 USD minimum payout threshold in order to scale the Partner Program. You now need your story earnings to accumulate a minimum of $10 USD before Medium can send a payout to your Stripe account. If your stories do not earn $10 in a given month, the balance will be rolled over to the following month until you meet the minimum threshold. More info on this change is available in this article.
An expansion to Medium’s Boost Nominator Pilot Program. This allows the inclusion of more editors with diverse expertise, cultures, and backgrounds from all Partner Program countries. You can learn more about the program here.
An updated Partner Program dashboard with revamped features that show earning history, tax withholding, and Stripe account fees. Writers can also do the following all in one place:
