iPhone 11 Pro Hands-on Impressions!

First iPhone 11 Pro Impressions Header

It’s not every day I get to touch and use the latest and greatest tech. The iPhone 11 Pro still feels like an expensive phone that has pretty much the same design as last year’s iPhone XS. With that in mind, I’m here to give you my iPhone 11 Pro hands-on impressions! Despite having an iPhone XR, Is it worth the P20,000 jump from the iPhone 11? Find out after the jump!

Design and Build

Let’s face it: Apple still used the same general design as the iPhone X. The iPhone 11 Pro has the same glass front and back design with a stainless steel frame. If it wasn’t for that big camera bump and the Apple logo at the back, I couldn’t tell at all. Another difference was when I held this phone thanks to the matte back. It kinda feels more slippery but I’d take this over the previous generation.

These Cameras Though!

Probably my main highlight of this iPhone 11 Pro hands-on impressions is the cameras on this phone! We’ve reached a point where cameras on phones are really getting good. While trying the iPhone 11 Pro for (admittedly) just an hour, I got to try out its triple rear camera system!

Before getting into some shots, I just wanna give a shout out to the new camera UI! This is exclusive to just the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. I love how smooth this UI is. As we demand more and more from our smartphone cameras, I’m glad that Apple is putting more focus on this Camera app.

I’m also glad that you can FINALLY change the quality of the video directly from the Camera app (on iOS 13.2). This has been a qualm of every single person that brought this up. I don’t know if Apple would want to make a separate Pro Camera to have a better camera experience, but this is a start.

I’m actually amazed how consistent the quality of all three cameras! Normally, there’s one of them that has some loss in quality in terms of color and white balance. I don’t really see that with the iPhone 11 Pro shots.

When my friend sent this shot, I thought this was taken with Night Mode. I checked the photo info and this was actually a normal shot from the ultra-wide camera! Wow. Since the iPhone 11 Pro I used ran iOS 13.2, this probably has the Deep Fusion feature. Still, I’m super excited about what this means for its chances against the upcoming Pixel 4.

Other iPhone 11 Pro Hands-on Thoughts

I had an iPhone X before. One of the great things I loved about it was the OLED display. The iPhone 11 Pro has the same resolution but has deeper blacks thanks to its 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The colors really pop and look nice to me.

I now own an iPhone XR right now and it has a Liquid Retina display AKA an LCD display. I don’t miss it too much really. The only thing I value in display quality is the ability to see it in broad daylight. iPhones are always good in that department though. I hope to be able to do a side-by-side comparison between the 11 and 11 Pro display.

The A13 Bionic on the 11 Pro performs so well, yet I didn’t find my iPhone XR slow (despite the randomness of iOS 13). As mentioned by a lot of reviewers, processor updates matter near the end of the lifecycle of an iPhone than the beginning.

Here’s hoping I get a hold of an iPhone 11 Pro on a more permanent basis so I can review this phone. I might do an iPhone XR camera impressions with a twist for my next post! Stay tuned!
