Last year wasn’t a good year for Samsung. Despite how good the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 were, they couldn’t go against the major trend of slowing smartphone sales. It doesn’t help that they basically copied Apple’s tick-tock strategy. Samsung needs a BIG SPLASH in order for them to get back to growth. Leaks for the Galaxy S10 came out like wildfire. It always reminds me of how the next iPhone would also leak like crazy!
With that in mind, I’m here to show you what to expect in the next Galaxy! These are based on the gobs of leaks that came out. Enjoy!
There Will Be Three.
This part seems to be all but confirmed at this point. The Galaxy S10 family will consist of three
- Galaxy S10e with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage
- Galaxy S10 with 6 GB of RAM and either 128 or 256 GB of storage
- Galaxy S10+ with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 / 256 / 512 GB of storage
There’s also the Galaxy S10+ 5G with at most 12GB of RAM and 1TB or storage. I honestly don’t think the 5G version will sell at all. 5G won’t be a thing until at least 2020. Even then that’s still not the full 5G experience. I hope there will be no mention of the 5G phone in the Philippine launch.
ALL IN on Multiple Cameras!
At least 2 models of the Galaxy S10 will have three cameras:
- A 12-megapixel unit with 78° field of view and adjustable aperture of f/1.5 or f/2.4
- A 16-megapixel wide-angle camera with 123° FoV at f/1.9
- A 13-megapixel telephoto camera with 45° at f/2.4
The Galaxy S10e will only have two of those three cameras though. (They will most likely be the main and telephoto cameras.) All three S10 models will adopt the hole-punch method and have their front cameras on the top-right corner. The Galaxy S10+ will have a dual front camera setup, so the hole-punch will be bigger.
Cool Wireless Earbuds, Samsung!
This one makes me more excited than the phone itself! Samsung will release wireless earbuds along with the Galaxy S10 family. Its main standout feature is the ability for the S10 to charge the earbuds! I know Huawei started the reverse wireless charging trend, but I think Samsung is on to something here.
One UI Looks Promising…
Let’s face it: Samsung software isn’t the best. Bixby continues to be a chore and there are so many duplicate Samsung apps. Recently, Samsung put out their new skin on Android 9 Pie: One UI. I won’t go deep into what it has going for it, but I think this is the first step towards good Samsung software. Check out what One UI can do on their website.
The Galaxy S10 will be the first major Samsung smartphone with One UI built-in. I hope it will be faster on the new phones.
Should We Be Excited for the Galaxy S10?
This is probably one of the most anticipated smartphone releases of the year! They will most likely announce other stuff besides the S10 family, but I hope Samsung focuses on them. I don’t think the foldable phone is ready for primetime. As I said earlier, 5G won’t be a huge thing. Samsung should make the S10 one of the most compelling smartphones ever made.
Are you excited for the Galaxy S10? Is it getting boring at this point? Or you simply don’t care since you’d rather get an affordable midrange phone? Let me know in the comments below!
