The landscape of entry-level smartphones never seems to stop spreading far and wide! We can now get a smartphone with a big screen, a big battery, and a decent camera for less than P10,000! Major phone brands create sub-brands just so they can sell cheaper phones without muddling their main brand. One of them managed to make a HUGE SPLASH in the Philippines! With that in mind, Xiaomi recently made Redmi a separate brand! Xiaomi has always been a bang-for-your-buck brand. This Redmi sub-brand lets them put out even crazier prices on smartphones. This is where the Redmi Go comes in!
What is the Redmi Go?
The Redmi Go is Xiaomi’s first smartphone that runs Android Go (Android 8.1 Go Edition)! I have tried an Android Go phone before. It could run the usual apps well despite the low specs. Android Go also helps by having Go versions of Google apps like Maps Go, YouTube Go, and Files Go.
One thing Xiaomi has going for it is getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor inside! With that, you are sure to get good performance in running Android Go.
You also get the following in the Redmi Go:
- 5-inch HD display (720p resolution)
- 3000 mAh battery
- 8MP rear camera with LED flash
- 5MP front camera
- Dual SIM support
- microSD card support up to 128GB
- 8GB internal storage
- Comes in Black or Blue
Where Can I Buy the Redmi Go?
You can purchase the Redmi Go at Lazada and Authorized Mi Stores for just P3,990! That’s for the 8GB model in either Black or Blue. It is not clear if there will be a model with more internal storage. I’m hoping to get one of these as soon as I get back and compare it with the other Android Go device and a certain “Entry-Level King”.
