Remember the OPPO Find X? It was the company’s attempt at an all-screen smartphone. It basically had no bezels, a motorized pop-up part to hide the cameras, and face-unlock. That phone came out in 2018. I wondered when the next one would come out since it focused on the Reno series last year. We now have our answer in the form of not one, but two smartphones! Meet the OPPO Find X2 Series!
The OPPO Find X2 Series Ditches the Pop-up Cameras?!?
The phone which started doing popup cameras ditches it entirely on its successors. Yes, the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro use a more conventional hole-punch front camera. We even gain a camera bump on the back! It seems disappointing that OPPO would just remove the standout features of the first Find X smartphone. What do we get by removing them? A LOT actually.
“To deliver a superior smartphone experience to our users, OPPO is constantly innovating all aspects of our products – from screen, photography, charging, battery life, and design. The clear, smooth, and professional display of the OPPO Find X2 Pro sets a new standard for flagship smartphones, bringing mobile interaction and display experience to a new level in the 5G era.”
Brian Shen, Vice President and the President of Global Marketing at OPPO
A Display that One-Ups Samsung?!?
The obvious standout feature of the Find X2 Series is the 120Hz QHD+ Ultra Vision Screen! What does that mean though? It means you get the highest refresh rate currently on the market with a higher resolution than the competition! Most phones that have 1440p resolution displays typically still run at 60Hz. There are those with a 120Hz refresh rate but are stuck with 1080p. With the Find X2 series, you get the best of both worlds!
The Find X2 Series also has the O1 Ultra Vision Engine that helps in achieving that feat. It also has Motion Clear that enables content at lower refresh rates to adapt to the higher refresh rate screen! It’s useful for content that has a lot of moving objects (e.g. fast-paced sports).
A Camera Bump.
Another trend that I loved seeing through OPPO’s Reno and Reno 2 series of phones is the lack of a camera bump. It felt so refreshing to see phones without anything sticking out of their backs. For the OPPO Find X2 series, the company opted to go with the flow here. Both the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro have triple rear cameras but of course have differences.
- OPPO Find X2: 48MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 13MP telephoto with f/2.4 aperture, 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture
- OPPO Find X2 Pro: 48MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 13MP Periscope telephoto sensor with f/3.0 aperture and 5x optical zoom, 48MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture
The Find X2 Pro gains a lot compared to its predecessor along with better tricks up its sleeve. It has Ultra Steady Video Pro which uses the 48MP ultra-wide angle sensor and an upgraded image stabilization algorithm to let you capture a better wide-angle video. You also get 4K 60fps video recording with Live HDR. People who want to do some color grading with their video will appreciate the 10bit video recording, the pixel-level real-time grading exposure, and video color calibration.
OPPO’s Flagship Powerhouses!
The Find X2 and Find X2 Pro pack a lot of punch and more than deserve to be called flagship smartphones. You get the Snapdragon 865 processor, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage, and up to 4260 mAh of battery. Both phones also have the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging technology where you can charge from 0 to 100 in 38 minutes! Both also have the next-generation 5G mobile technology for faster internet speeds!
The OPPO Find X2 series poises to be a great phone to hold and to use! The Find X2 Pro comes in two colors: Orange (vegan leather) or Black (ceramic). The Find X2 comes in two colors as well: Black (ceramic) or Ocean (glass). Both really have high-end prices: the Find X2 starts at around €1000 while the Find X2 Pro comes at around €1100! Do you think the features justify the cost? Sound off in the comments!
