Globe recently expanded its Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) capabilities to more of its users. This means that more customers can take advantage of crisp and clear, uninterrupted calls from the safety of their homes! Both Globe VoWiFi and VoLTE can be used by its Postpaid subscribers.
What is Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi)?
Also known as WiFi calling, VoWiFi amplifies network coverage in areas with poor signal quality. You might be wondering how Globe VoWiFi works. It lets you use your WiFi connection whenever there is a poor signal in your area to make calls. This gives you less worry whenever you need to reach someone in a pinch and you’re in a place with a great WiFi connection.
How About Voice over LTE (VoLTE)?
Even when we already had LTE, our signal would fall back to a 3G connection whenever we make a call. With Voice over LTE, we can now make high-quality calls while staying on an LTE connection. This means that you can stream movies and browse the web using a fast connection during a call.
What Globe VoWiFi and VoLTE Means for Its Users
With Globe now offering VoWiFi and VoLTE, its subscribers can be sure that they can make and take unbroken calls during emergencies, important occasions or work conversations. They can also strive to maintain connections with friends and families even as the pandemic keeps everyone physically apart.
How Can One Use VoWiFi and VoLTE for Free?
Activating and using both VoWiFi and VoLTE is free of charge and takes three simple steps:
For VoWifi, users just need to go to their phone’s “Connection Settings”, tap “WiFi Calling”, and turn on “WiFi” as their preferred calling preference. Meanwhile, for VoLTE, also in “Connection Settings”, just tap “Voice and Data” and activate “VoLTE”.
Note that both of these services are available for Postpaid subscribers only. No word yet on when Prepaid subscribers can get in on the fun.
