We’re now in a new normal where laptops and tablets are more and more essential. I’m glad that there are alternatives to the usual players in the chip space. One of those players is MediaTek with its Kompanio line of processors. Now, MediaTek announced the new MediaTek Kompanio 900T chipset that may be on your next laptop or tablet! This follows the recent launch of the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T that’s designed for premium tablets.
What Does the MediaTek Kompanio 900T Have to Offer?
This processor uses the advanced 6nm process and it carries an octa-core CPU architecture. That consists of two Arm Cortex-A78 ultra-performance cores and six Arm Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores. There’s also an Arm Mali-G68 GPU and MediaTek APU (AI processor) for serious mobile computing power. The Kompanio 900T supports LPDDR5 memory, UFS 3.1 storage, and adaptable up to 2K resolution 120Hz refresh rate screens. This will enable fast performance for both business and gaming applications.
This new platform also features the following:
- High-speed 5G network: Kompanio 900T integrates a 5G modem and supports standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) dual-mode networking with full coverage of 5G sub-6GHz, along with 5G dual-carrier aggregation and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services. Combined with MediaTek 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, users can take advantage of high-speed 5G networks while also enjoying extended battery life.
- Advanced wireless connectivity: Kompanio 900T supports 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 for faster and more reliable connectivity. Kompanio 900T also allows for multiple peripheral extensions.
- Excellent audio and video multimedia: Equipped with MediaTek’s MiraVision image quality engine and AI enhanced video display features, Kompanio 900T can enhance SDR video content to near HDR quality and upgrade HDR10 to nearly HDR10+, in addition to supporting HDR10+ video playback image quality enhancement features in real-time.
Various device makers use the Kompanio platform to bring a lot of popular mobile computing devices to the market. You may see a lot of Chromebooks like the Lenovo Chromebook Duet and the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 use MediaTek processors. Devices with the Kompanio 900T will be available soon.
